During dry weather, especially in winter, people have to deal with dry skin and chapped lips. This is caused by a lack of moisture.

Dry weather soaks up the moisture from the skin, leaving it dull and vulnerable. It?s very important that you keep your skin condition and moisturized.

Let?s discuss 9 cheap ways to moisturize your skin without being hard on your wallet.

#1: Use moisturizers that contain oatmeal, ceramides and some essential fatty acids which help you lock in the moisture content. You should also consider using products that contain certain oils suck as coconut oil, avocado oil and olive oil which really help moisturize your skin form deep within.

#2: Carry a moisturizer with you when you leave for work. It is natural that you would go to a restroom once or twice during the day. Your hands get dry after you wash them; apply the moisturizer on your hands as soon as you get out of the restroom.

#3: Maintain a healthy diet if you want to protect your skin and keep it moisturized. Include green leafy vegetables in your diet. These provide you with the basic nutrients required for the skin. Consume fruits on a daily basis for their moisture content. The key behind this is that your body needs water and hydration. Avoid excess alcohol and caffeine because these substances dehydrate the body. Include milk, honey, bananas and avocados in your diet.

#4:Read the ingredients of your bottle of moisturizer. Make sure it has vitamins and minerals. You don?t want to squander money on ingredients that you don?t want.

#5:Buy moisturizer in bulk. Look for coupons at wholesale stores like CostCo or Sam?s Club.

#6: Keep in mind that baths don?t moisturize your skin; they actually take away the wetness from the skin. Avoid baths in the winter, and if you live in a dry climate, because the excess contact with water actually does not moisturize your skin. Showers are better than baths.

#7: Use mild herbal soaps that contain a moisturizing agent. Avoid using chemically made products.

#8: Carry an SPF product with you if you are going out for a long time. SPF products also come with moisturizers. This is vital because you might get a sunburn if you stay out too long in the sun, and sunburns deplete moisture from your skin.

#9: Look for products that contain the ingredients you want rather than fixating on a brand name.

Natural oils really do make the best moisturisers of all, they’re pure and natural- and best of all, they’re a lot cheaper than many commercial products! I sometimes just add a few drops of essential oil, like orange or lavender to a plain bottle of sweet almond oil or grapeseed oil, and voila, instant moisturiser!

Really good tips! I have another one – this is what my naturopath taught me. If you run out of lip balm, you can use cold-pressed olive oil.. it’s natural and will make your lips relaly soft!
