Inner confidence: How do you get yours back?


At some points, it feels as though some people are just born with it, while others don’t have any.

Fortunately, it doesn’t always have to be like this. In short, confidence is something that you can develop. Sure, there are some genes which make the attribute a whole lot easier to pick up, but there is still room to take yours further.

Today is the day that we will identify some of these areas. As such, if you are struggling with your inner confidence, sit back and take in some of the following advice we have to offer.

It starts with your smile

It sounds ridiculously simple, but one of the easiest ways to boost your confidence is just to smile more.

It has been scientifically proven that people who make an effort to smile more, automatically have more confidence.

Of course, for some of us smiling is difficult for oral health reasons. As such, we would urge you to at least check yourself out in this regard, whether it is a standard maintenance procedure or something like porcelain veneers.

Focus on your hands

It sounds utterly random, but you might be surprised at just how crucial your hands are to your inner confidence.

Let’s not forget that these are used pretty much every minute, of every day. They are also a key tool when it comes to introducing yourself to someone.

Of course, the fact they are used so often means that they often find themselves in a less-than ideal state. Again, when you approach someone for a handshake, this is something that can play on your mind. The last thing you want to be is being self-conscious about the rough skin on your hands, so make sure that you treat these adequately as a matter of urgency.

You are what you wear

It sounds something that is ridiculously simple, but when it comes to your clothing this is something that can make a monumental difference to your confidence.

Wear something ill-fitting, and it’s not just your sense of style that suffers. This is something that has a knock-on effect on all sorts of other areas – including your posture. For example, some women have found that their posture, and ultimately their confidence, is boosted by simply wearing a bra that’s the correct size.

Change your focus

This final tip of the day sounds the simplest of all – but in truth it’s a complete change in mindset. In other words, it might very well be the most difficult of all to implement.

Nowadays, it has become far too easy for us all to be self-critical. We all seemingly have an obsession with concentrating on the negative points of our appearance, when we really should be doing the opposite.

As such, as soon as you feel as though you are going to start talking about one of your so-called downsides, reverse it. Focus on your strengths, and make this the hub of your internal conversations.

Similarly, if someone else starts talking about their weaknesses, don’t feel as though you need to return with one of your own. This is a classic mistake and can again eat away at your inner confidence.
