How to Supercharge your Motivation in your Weight Loss Journey

weight loss

As we all know, losing weight is tough. You can start your journey full of confidence, but after a few weeks this can have completely disintegrated.

Of course, these lapses in motivation appear at different stages for different people. Some are very good at shifting those initial few pounds, but then start to lose interest when the so-called more difficult ones don’t come off some months down the line.

Bearing this in mind, today’s article is going to look at some of the best ways you can stay on top of your weight loss journey, by keeping motivated.

Don’t be too strict

Unless you happen to be on a crash-course (which we would strongly not recommend), the best way to lose weight is to do it in a steady and controlled manner.

Attempting to slash your body weight in half in a matter of weeks is not reasonable – and the end result is obvious. You will find that your initial goal was completely impossible and over time, this will result in you losing interest and giving up the game.

As such, don’t be too strict, and make sure you set realistic goals.

Sometimes it’s not just about diet and exercise

Next, let’s talk about a topic which is sometimes regarded as a taboo one. While there’s no doubt a solid diet and exercise regime are crucial when it comes to your weight loss goals – there can sometimes be more to help you along your way.

One example is liposuction. Admittedly, it’s not for everyone, but it can be something that can rid yourself of fat in certain areas and this can be the exact ticket to propel your motivation levels.

Tap into social support

Ever heard of fitness buddies? This isn’t some sort of fad; it is a tried-and-tested method that you can use to lose weight.

Countless studies have found that the people who succeed the most when it comes to their weight loss journey are those that do it with a buddy. Why does this happen? When you have some responsibility, the game changes. When you have someone waiting at the gym on a morning, you have a responsibility to them to show up.

Not only that, but there is the competitive side as well. While the two of you might be in completely different stages of your journey, if one of you is not making the same progress as the other it becomes easier to pinpoint just why this might be the case.

Don’t try and pick a diet and exercise that are not suitable

There are countless diet and exercise plans out there – but they won’t all be for you. You might be the type of person who hates running, but instead is more motivated by strength training. Considering all of the weight loss benefits strength training has, this is completely fine and at least means that you’re not going to be giving up too easily.

When it comes to diets, it’s time to be shrewd as well. If you know the times in which your body craves food, don’t try and starve it just because the latest diet fad says so. Instead, find a diet that is flexible and isn’t going to be restricting your lifestyle.
