Dark, blotchy skin is a much-hated phenomenon that everyone has to face once or twice in his or her lifetime. With increased tanning, sunburns, pollution, and what not, the skin has to go through a number of melanin-related ordeals, that we can see only after it is too late. What if there was a way to reverse skin pigmentation? Well, here are some kick-ass methods to do just the same!

  • Apple Cider Vinegar

Get a tablespoon full of apple cider vinegar and dilute it with water. Use a wad of cotton to apply the apple cider vinegar on your skin, and leave it to dry naturally. Wash it off with lukewarm water afterwards. Do this twice a day to get the best results. The vitamins and minerals contained in the vinegar replenishes the skin and stops as well as reverses pigmentation. With continued use, the skin pigmentation should vanish in a couple of weeks.

  • Aloe Vera Gel

You need ?fresh? Aloe Vera gel for this procedure. The best skin investment you can make in your whole life is to get a potted Aloe Vera plant. They need little maintenance and provide you with loads of fresh Aloe Vera gel anytime you need. Massage the aloe Vera gel on your skin along with honey and leave it for about 15 minutes. Then wipe it off carefully with a cotton pad. Wash your face with lukewarm water. ?Do this after waking up, and before going to bed every day.

  • Cucumber

There?s a reason why cucumber slices are used so extensively, and it is due to their melanin correction powers. The antioxidants found in cucumber helps to reduce skin pigmentation irregularities drastically. Use refrigerator chilled cucumber slices for this method. Take out the juice, mix it with honey, and a bit of lemon juice until a smooth mixture is obtained. This mixture is applied onto the affected areas of the skin, and is left on for 10 minutes. It is then washed off with lukewarm water.

  • Potato

Take a raw potato, and clean it properly. Then, cut it into thin slices. A few drops of water need to be added on the slice. Now, rub the potato slice in circular motion on the pigmented area of the skin. Leave the potato juice on your skin for about 10 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Doing these 3 to 4 times a day, continuously for a month will do away with all your skin hyperpigmentation problems. Potato has bleaching properties which drastically reduces your skin pigmentation from your first application itself.

  • Lemon Juice and turmeric

Lemon juice, because of its high acidity, acts as a gentle exfoliator when mixed with water, while turmeric powder is highly useful for removing blemishes, maintaining the pH levels of the skin, as well as giving a radiant glow to the face. The high acidity also acts as a bleach and hence helps reduce skin pigmentation by lightening the melanin. Its juice also prevents development of acne, so that you don?t have to worry about future pigmentation. Just apply the mixture directly, or mix with water if you have sensitive skin, and repeat it every day till you get a clear and healthy skin.

  • Orange peel

Orange peel is also a well-known natural bleaching agent. The peel of orange is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C, which gives it the bleaching properties, and also helps in removing sun tan. That is why you see so many face washes with orange peel or zest. For a quick and cheap remedy, just grate an orange peel and mix it with milk, lemon juice, and honey, and apply it on the affected areas. Leave it on for 2 minutes, and then wash it off with lukewarm water.

These methods haven?t just been written down in here. They have been tested by your grandmothers themselves. These age-old home remedies do wonders to one?s skin, and makes you feel absolutely amazing about yourself!
