Daily hair care is much simpler than you think. Here are 7 things you should do regularly to have fewer hair problems. Incorporate these tips in your daily routine.
1. Hair Protection
Your hair needs to be protected from the weather. Protect it from wind, rain, and sun. Our hair gets exposed to excessive sun, heat, dirt, and pollution on a daily basis. This increases the hair problems that we already have. Dirt buildup leads to drying out of scalp and hair, which in turn leads to dandruff. This and constantly wet hair make our scalp susceptible to infections.
When outside with harsh conditions, always cover your hair with something like a cap, hat, umbrella, stole, hoodie. Anything that can keep your hair covered and protect your scalp will do.
2. Frequent oil massages
Oiling your hair is very important. It helps retain your natural oil that can be lost due to pollution and also constant washing. Oil your hair at night and let your scalp soak it in and then wash it off with a gentle shampoo.
Overusing shampoo or using a shampoo that is harsh on your skin can strip your scalp of its natural oil.
3. Be gentle with your wet hair
Wet hair breaks easily. The hair is more fragile when wet and then is when breakage begins. Shampooing harshly can cause a lot of breakage in the shower itself. Avoid immediately brushing your hair after coming out of a shower. Let it air dry and then run a comb.
4. Brush your hair gently
Brushing your hair increases the luster in your hair and also helps to spread your natural oil through the length of your hair. Using plastic combs are said to cause hair breakage. Using brushed instead of combs to be gentle with your hair.
5. Reduce the usage of heat on your hair
Don?t overapply anything to your hair and that includes using electronics and hair products. Heat strips the moisture content from your hair making it dry, frizzy and causing breakage. It can also burn your hair. Use hair straighteners and curlers only when necessary and use a hair protectant before that. Use hair dryer only in emergencies or else let it air dry.
6. Do not use tight hair ties
Super tight hair ties tend to your hair back very tight and that increases friction which causes breakage. Use scrunchies, mostly the ones that are made out of cloth or use bandanas. The cloth is the best hair tying accessory for your hair. It gets the work done without damaging the strands.
7. Use hair masks from time to time
Like face masks, use hair masks that are well-suited for your hair type. Depending on your hair problems, use a formula with ingredients that are known to help. Don?t use it in excess though.
Hair problems can be easily avoided by doing little things every day that we usually neglect. It isn?t always about expensive products and elaborate routines, sometimes it?s just the little things.
