6 Budget Makeup Must-Haves

Need glam makeup at a dime-store price? Don’t spend a bunch of money on primer, lipliner and other “makeup incidentals.” Here are the forms of makeup that will give you the biggest bang for your buck.

#1: Colored Chapstick or Lip Gloss
I prefer Burt’s Bees, which retails for $4.95 and instantly softens your lips while adding a dash of color. If you’re willing to spend a little more, or you want extra shine, try Victoria Secret extra-shiny lip gloss.

#2: Foundation
Skip the primer and powder as long as you have a strong foundation that evens your skin tone. I like liquid foundations applied by sponge or brush.

#3: Concealer
Hide those dark undereye circles! A liquid concealer in a yellowish undertone freshens your look instantly. (Confession: I’m thinking about splurging on YSL Touche Eclat, which is supposed to be the ultimate concealer.)

#4: Eyeliner
Makes your eyes look big, instantly. And it lasts FOREVER! I prefer liquid eyeliners. If you don’t want something that dramatic, try a gel or crayon eyeliner.

#5: Mascara
Because you just can’t skip mascara. Duh!

#6: A Good Doctor
I might get some flack for saying this, but … after a certain age, makeup can only do so much. Every woman should have the freedom to decide whether or not a visit to the doctor for a little nip-tuck is part of her beauty and anti-aging regimen. This is a personal decision; some women are comfortable with it and others are not. Every woman should have the choice.
